Brilhante
Reviving the spirit of Lisbon’s old brasseries, Brilhante is imposing. The counter is at the center of everything, though there are also secluded tables. Luís Gaspar has created an instant classic with the Bife à Brilhante, inspired by the old Bife à Marrare served in the historic Lisbon cafés—the house’s star dish. The bar boasts a whiskey selection hard to find in Lisbon, with references from several countries.
Mon–Wed 12:00–4:00 PM / 7:00 PM–12:00 AM; Thu–Fri 12:00–4:00 PM / 7:00 PM–1:00 AM; Sat–Sun 12:00 PM–12:00 AM.

Cerqueira
A Portuguese house with a Brazilian soul. It may look like just another tavern, but Cerqueira is much more. Brazilians Ângelo Lellis and Aylton Viana took over after the original owners retired and, out of respect for its history, kept the look — and on the menu they retained the bacalhau à minhota and the house dessert, following the old recipes but with new plating. As for the rest, it’s indulgent food meant for sharing.
Tue–Fri 6:30–11:00 PM; Sat 12:30–3:00 PM / 6:30–11:00 PM.

Bar Alimentar
After Tricky’s, João Magalhães Correia opened Bar Alimentar with the same disruptive spirit. Near Praça das Flores, it is now one of the city’s most vibrant restaurants. It has a great vibe and even better food, shaped by the chef’s years in Italy. To pair, there are cocktails signed by the Imprensa team. On the interior terrace, the ambiance is more restrained, while the main dining room can be quite festive.
Tue–Sat 7:00 PM–12:00 AM.

Alma
At Alma, Henrique Sá Pessoa reveals his most personal cuisine, always grounded in Portuguese culinary tradition. The focus on Portuguese products is reflected in two tasting menus: “Alma,” which revisits the chef’s classics (like a reinterpreted pork à alentejana), and “Costa a Costa,” which dives into the flavors of the sea. With two Michelin stars, this is where Sá Pessoa truly showcases his gastronomic vision.
Tue–Sat 12:00–2:30 PM / 7:00 PM–12:00 AM.

2Monkeys
2Monkeys won a Michelin star in record time thanks to its distinctive concept. Two chefs, Vítor Matos and Guilherme Spalk, serve a tasting menu that is never announced in advance. At the counter, 14 diners are surprised at every moment. The experience thrives on proximity: dishes finished in front of the guest, direct dialogue, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Tue–Sat 7:30–11:00 PM.

Davvero
A classic Italian restaurant that still feels contemporary. Respecting gastronomic tradition, the menu focuses on northern Italy, with rigorous attention to ingredient quality and seasonality. The sophisticated setting—with open kitchen and terrace—invites unhurried meals. Ideal for leisurely lunches or special dinners.
Sun–Wed 12:00–3:00 PM / 7:00–10:00 PM; Thu–Sat 12:00–3:00 PM / 7:00–10:30 PM.

Ofício – Tasco Atípico
The story of Ofício has been atypical: it began as a meat restaurant and is now a gastronomic spot led by Hugo Candeias. In the kitchen, borders blur—a reflection of the many years the chef spent abroad—yielding creative cooking and dishes that rotate frequently. To finish, the Basque tart is a must, now a standalone business of its own.
Mon–Sun 5:00 PM–12:00 AM.
Rocco
Extravagant and sophisticated, and it’s no exaggeration to say it has one of Lisbon’s most beautiful counters. In the heart of Chiado, Rocco is essentially divided into three areas (four, if you count the restroom as a must-see). At the counter, the small plates follow Portuguese tradition; in the dining room, cozier and overlooking the Terrace, the menu features Italian classics. At the crudo bar, the focus is on seafood, paired with Champagne, sparkling wine, or Prosecco. Breakfast is also available.
Mon–Sun 8:00 AM–1:00 AM.

Vela Latina
A Lisbon classic that refreshed itself years ago to gain several lives and formats—without ever losing quality. On one side you’ll find traditional Portuguese cooking; on the other, a Nikkei menu that fuses Peruvian and Japanese cuisines. There’s also a charcuterie and a pizzeria. All of this unfolds in a beautiful space on Doca do Bom Sucesso in Belém, complete with a great terrace.
Mon–Thu 12:00 PM–11:00 PM; Fri–Sat 12:00 PM–12:00 AM.

Sud Lisboa Terrazza
There are restaurants where the location and the view are everything—or almost—such as Sud Lisboa Terrazza. Facing the Tagus, right next to MAAT, the venue has several areas. Upstairs there’s an infinity pool and a pool bar; downstairs is the restaurant with two distinct ambiences, plus a terrace and a kiosk at street level. The menu is extensive, with options from sea and land, and there’s room for pastas and risottos too.
Sun–Thu 12:00 PM–1:00 AM; Fri–Sat 12:00 PM–2:00 AM.
