Karater

Guram Baghdoshvili lived and worked many years in Portugal before returning to Georgia, where he became a media figure and an ambassador for his country’s cuisine. In 2024 he came back to Lisbon and opened Karater in Bairro Alto. In a former dairy shop, the chef serves khinkali, khachapuri, and other classics with Portuguese ingredients and an amphora‑wine list that pays homage to Georgia’s winemaking tradition. It’s also a place with serious cool.

Kanazawa

The setting is unassuming, in a housing development in Algés, but it’s worth the detour. Kanazawa is a singular restaurant with only eight seats, led by Paulo Morais, a master of Japanese cuisine. The cooking is kaiseki, marked by seasonality and excellence of product. Among the four tasting menus, each moment is conceived as a ritual.

Karpa

Chef Rui Sequeira is one of the Algarve’s great culinary talents and has been making a name for himself in recent years. More recently, he launched Karpa, a Japanese restaurant with a distinctly Portuguese soul, blending izakaya and omakase concepts.
