Eleven

At the top of Parque Eduardo VII, Eleven opened in 2004 under Joachim Koerper, when Lisbon was still far from today’s buzzing food scene. It earned a Michelin star just months after opening—the city’s first at the time—lost it and later regained it, keeping it to this day. Between tasting menus and à la carte options, the experience reaches another level at the window tables (the view over Lisbon is lovely).

Mon–Sat 12:30–3:00 PM / 7:30–10:00 PM.

Fifty Seconds

The experience begins the moment you arrive. You need to reach the top of the Vasco da Gama Tower to discover Fifty Seconds. The name refers to the duration of the panoramic elevator ride. In the kitchen, Rui Silvestre pursues a second Michelin star with a tasting menu crafted with precision and mastery—bold, spiced, and acidic, fresh and intense.

Tue–Fri 7:00–10:00 PM; Sat 12:30–2:00 PM / 7:00–10:00 PM.

Kanazawa

The setting is unassuming, in a housing development in Algés, but it’s worth the detour. Kanazawa is a singular restaurant with only eight seats, led by Paulo Morais, a master of Japanese cuisine. The cooking is kaiseki, marked by seasonality and excellence of product. Among the four tasting menus, each moment is conceived as a ritual.

Tue 7:00–9:30 PM; Wed–Sat 12:00–3:00 PM / 7:00–9:30 PM.

Kabuki

At Kabuki, the Spanish brand that landed in the Ritz galleries in 2021, Japanese cuisine and technique intertwine with Mediterranean flavors and ingredients. A Michelin star followed soon after. The full experience unfolds in the tasting menu, but there are also à la carte options and a bar where you can snack.

Tue–Fri 12:30 PM–12:00 AM; Sat 7:00 PM–12:00 AM.

Alma

At Alma, Henrique Sá Pessoa reveals his most personal cuisine, always grounded in Portuguese culinary tradition. The focus on Portuguese products is reflected in two tasting menus: “Alma,” which revisits the chef’s classics (like a reinterpreted pork à alentejana), and “Costa a Costa,” which dives into the flavors of the sea. With two Michelin stars, this is where Sá Pessoa truly showcases his gastronomic vision.

Tue–Sat 12:00–2:30 PM / 7:00 PM–12:00 AM.

2Monkeys

2Monkeys won a Michelin star in record time thanks to its distinctive concept. Two chefs, Vítor Matos and Guilherme Spalk, serve a tasting menu that is never announced in advance. At the counter, 14 diners are surprised at every moment. The experience thrives on proximity: dishes finished in front of the guest, direct dialogue, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Ó Balcão

Ó Balcão, by chef Rodrigo Castelo, is a fine dining restaurant with identity. The Ribatejo is served at the table with a tasting menu designed down to the smallest detail. Everything is made in-house, from the bread to the smoked and cured products, essential for the river fish the chef works with, as well as the meats. The restaurant also has a green star for its work in sustainability.

A Cozinha

It’s the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Minho and is becoming more refined. António Loureiro draws from the region, between the sea and the mountains, to tell a story, committed to sustainability without limiting creativity. The restaurant is beautiful and modern.

Desarma

It was one of the big surprises at the 2023 Michelin Gala. Born in Câmara de Lobos, Octávio Freitas couldn’t be more connected to the island where he has always lived and never wanted to leave. And that’s exactly what he serves at the table: the products, the aromas, and the history of Madeira. All of this happens at the top of the hotel The Views Baía, with an incredible view of Funchal and the sea. The wine cellar is also one of the highlights.

Il Galo D’Oro

French chef Benoît Sinthon may have French training, but in Madeira, he has embraced the local ecosystem in an absolutely surprising way – and that’s why, in addition to two Michelin stars, he has also earned a green star. He sums up his work like this: “We advocate the use of local products from our island through a creative approach, always respecting traditional flavors.” All this in a beautiful and elegant dining room overlooking the Atlantic.

Tue-Sat 7:00 PM-10:00 PM.
