O Arcoense
In light tones, the dining room at Arcoense is modern and spacious. At first glance, you might not imagine that this is one of the best traditional restaurants in the region. Everyone stops by here, especially for the cabrito assado à padeiro (roast kid goat) that wins over anyone (along with the service).
Mon-Sat 12:30 PM-3:00 PM, 7:30 PM-10:00 PM / Sun 12:30 PM-3:00 PM.

Cachalote
The setting is stunning, nestled between the sea and the volcanic rocks that formed the Natural Pools of Porto Moniz. The restaurant is quite large, with large windows that act like picture frames. On the menu, the flavors of the sea stand out, especially seafood and fish.
Mon-Sun 10:00 AM-7:00 PM.

Chalet Vicente
It owes its name to the family of photographers who used to spend their summer holidays in this house, now a restaurant: the Vicentes. Outside, there’s a typically Madeiran garden, and the counter and grill area resemble an old tavern. As for the menu, you can’t go wrong with anything – everything that arrives at the table is recommended, like the usual scabbard fish fillet with banana.
Mon-Sun 12:00 PM-11:00 PM.

Santo António
It’s one of the most iconic restaurants in the area. It started almost 60 years ago as a tavern where people just snacked and drank, but today it’s a fully-fledged establishment, more modern but still welcoming. The most requested dish is the traditional espetada, served with fried corn, fries, and salad.
Mon-Sun 12:00 PM-11:00 PM.

Abrigo do Pastor
It was indeed once a shelter for hunters and shepherds, but today it’s a popular traditional restaurant. The dining room is spacious, and the specialty is meats prepared over fire. It’s a great place, for example, to try the famous espetada (meat skewers), roasted on a grill and served directly on the skewer. There are also game dishes.
Mon-Sun 11:00 AM-11:00 PM.

Casa de Abrigo do Poiso
In the middle of the mountains, surrounded by forest, an old building has been transformed into a traditional restaurant. Some come just for the poncha (a local drink), but we recommend the full experience. The soups are a must, especially the typical tomato and onion soup, but the meats are also excellent.
Mon 9:00 AM-6:00 PM / Tue-Sun 9:00 AM-10:00 PM.

Miramar
Don’t confuse it with the Miramar on the main street of the small village of Zambujeira do Mar. This Miramar is in Brejão, on the way to Praia da Amália, and is a small Alentejan tavern where you can eat very fresh fish, brought in by local fishermen. For meat, there are mixed grills and steaks.
Sun-Fri 10:00 AM-11:00 PM.

Choupana
The location could be everything, but then there’s also the atmosphere and the food. This Choupana looks like a beachside cabin. It specializes in grilled dishes, especially fresh fish. It’s great for lunch, but at the end of the day, if you’re lucky, you’ll catch the sunset.
Tue-Sat 10:00 AM-10:00 PM.

O Beijinha
Located at the Sines dock, it’s been a success for many years. The reason is simple: good grilled food and always fresh fish. It has an enviable display of fish and seafood. The atmosphere is relaxed, with the added curiosity that everything is cooked in front of the customer.
Mon-Sun 11:30 AM-3:30 PM.
