Desarma
It was one of the big surprises at the 2023 Michelin Gala. Born in Câmara de Lobos, Octávio Freitas couldn’t be more connected to the island where he has always lived and never wanted to leave. And that’s exactly what he serves at the table: the products, the aromas, and the history of Madeira. All of this happens at the top of the hotel The Views Baía, with an incredible view of Funchal and the sea. The wine cellar is also one of the highlights.

Il Galo D’Oro
French chef Benoît Sinthon may have French training, but in Madeira, he has embraced the local ecosystem in an absolutely surprising way – and that’s why, in addition to two Michelin stars, he has also earned a green star. He sums up his work like this: “We advocate the use of local products from our island through a creative approach, always respecting traditional flavors.” All this in a beautiful and elegant dining room overlooking the Atlantic.
