São Miguel

Mané Cigano

There isn’t an Azorean who hasn’t heard of Mané Cigano or sat at one of its tables. The reason is simple: this is where you’ll find the best fried mackerel. Like any good tavern, the service is fast, and the atmosphere is casual and familiar.

Pico

Taberna do Canal

The decor is rustic, and the atmosphere is warm and familiar. The black-and-white walls resemble the markings of the many cows scattered across the island. The small terrace is cozy, and the menu features everything you'd expect from a restaurant on Pico Island: grilled limpets, tuna steak, squid stew, house-style octopus, and even a highly praised honey tart.
